WHY DO I STILL HAVE THIS FILE? vol. 3

I know I keep bringing this up, but I just got word that this art has been screen printed and all 50 limited edition prints will be shipped to me ASAP to sign and hand stamper embellish.  How f’n fun is that!
This print is being made by Chris Huth http://huthbot.blogspot.com/ for a big book themed show he has been planning for a while now.  Think of it:  a bunch of art created in just red and black for a limited edition screen print show where the theme is iconic books.  And what book did I pick?  WORLD WAR Z by Max Brooks was my read of choice.
I cannot wait to get these prints, doll them up and then ship them back off so Chris can make more magic happen.
If you want one of these (each print will be someone between 12 by 16 and 16 by 20 inches in size) more info will be available soon.  You can email me about it at: mmcipov@gmail.com

Here is my newest piece of unreleased rt I wanted to Tumbl about.
I don’t know why I made this art… who it was for… where the original went… and why I only have such a poor scan of it in my archives.
But here it is:  a person wearing a blank mask.

PROTESTY?

I noticed some sort of Etsy protest lately getting some press and mention from you guys on Facebook and while out of office I decided to look into the matter and see what it was all about. To be honest I was a bit shocked by the quick demonizing a lot of people decided to spout upon Etsy. While I am sure there are a number of people, or companies/collectives selling things on Etsy they they havemass manufactured, that is the sort of shifty thing I would expect people to do in any venue… especially one that isn’t juried. Heck, I’ve even heard about this sort of thing happening at Renegade Handmade shows… and those shows ARE juried. The group asking Etsy shop owners to inact a one day, vacation mode store shut down presented a single example of an admittedly bad screw up on the part of Etsy involving furniture being shopped out to Bali and sold as though made by an Etsian and a small staff… and yes, that story is bad, it doesn’t look good at all. But is that a good enough justification to take jabs at Etsy as a whole? This world is full of thieves and crooks… I myself have been ripped off more than enough times and I hate it. Unless Etsy starts taking the time to vet and jury every single shop and item sold on their website, problems will occur. It is the nature of such a large online entity. I of course did not put my shop in vacation mode and I really hope that this situation is drawing to a close. There and bigger and far worse things to worry about. Am I off base on this?

And may I please, please, PLEASE be clear:  of course I support the work of handmade artisans.  I am in this field and it is my way of life.  I just happen to only protest issues and groups that I think truly deserve to be called out on something.

Soon to be a limited edition, super high end giclée canvas print.  Nearly 2 by 3 feet in size.

If I am going to permanently take this piece out of my Etsy shop, I want to do it in style.  The good people at www.artforpeople.com want to help me make that magic happen.

Collaboration from about 6,100 years ago with the always amazing Meg Hunt.  I’ve lost touch with most of my art friends, Stella Im Hultberg, Audrey Kawasaki, Craig Thompson, Meg, and quite a few more, but I love with they do, think they are awesome people, miss them and respect them.
I’ll have to dig up the stuff Craig and I worked on years and years ago.  I think you guys might like it.

After years of making my way through most of a full dozen box of Pilot BPS fine point pens, I started to notice that the ink wasn’t laying down well anymore. So I got smart and bought another full box. I wonder how long these ones will last me? Each pen is usually good for about a half a year of art. And today I break out my first 100% new art pen for 2012. I can’t wait… seriously, I can’t wait because I am tired of trying to ink with bad pens. XO
